Vertical Balers — Cardboard Into Cash
The most cost-effective recycling investment for restaurants, retail, warehouses, and offices generating regular OCC. Two bale sizes, both producing mill-ready bales worth real money.
What a vertical baler actually does
A vertical baler compresses loose cardboard, plastic, or paper into dense, wire-tied bales. Instead of paying a hauler to remove cubic yards of fluffy material, you pay nothing — or get paid — to have a recycler pick up dense bales of OCC (old corrugated cardboard).
For most DFW businesses generating more than five cubic yards of cardboard per week, a vertical baler pays back its purchase price in 12–24 months through eliminated dumpster pulls and OCC rebates.
Two standard sizes
- 60×30 vertical balerBale size 60"×30"×48". Bale weight 600–800 lbs. Throughput suits most restaurants, retail stores, smaller warehouses, and office complexes.
- 70×40 vertical balerBale size 70"×40"×48". Bale weight 1,000–1,200 lbs. Built for grocery, big-box retail, distribution, and high-volume manufacturers.
Quick fit guide
You probably need a vertical baler if you:
- Generate 5+ cubic yards of cardboard per week
- Pay for OCC dumpster pulls separate from trash
- Have indoor space (8'×8' minimum) near a loading area
- Want the option to sell bales to a recycler for rebate

The OCC revenue conversation
Baled cardboard isn't waste — it's a commodity. DFW mill rates for OCC have ranged from $70–$120 per ton in recent years. A 70×40 vertical baler producing 1,000-lb bales at $90/ton generates $45 per bale in revenue (or rebate from your hauler). For an operation producing 4 bales a week, that's nearly $10,000 a year in cardboard alone — money that previously went out as dumpster fees.
We'll tell you what current OCC rates look like in the Fort Worth and Dallas markets and connect you to mills, brokers, or hauler rebate programs depending on what makes sense.
