Shared compactor models
Most strip malls and smaller shopping centers can't support per-tenant compactors. Shared stationary or self-contained compactors — sized for combined tenant volume and properly allocated through CAM — work much better than the alternative of multiple open dumpsters scattered around the back lot. Tenant mix and waste types
Restaurant tenants generate wet waste; retail tenants generate cardboard; salons and services generate mixed-light. Proper waste system design separates these streams to the extent practical — usually a self-contained for the wet side and a vertical baler for cardboard, with general dumpster service for residual.

Shared waste services through CAM can become a source of tenant disputes when high-volume tenants subsidize low-volume ones.
