Horizontal Balers — High-Volume Recycling
For operations generating tons of cardboard, paper, or plastic per day. Continuous-feed throughput that vertical balers can't match. Built for warehouses, distribution centers, and dedicated recyclers.
When you need horizontal
- Generating 4+ tons of cardboard or recyclables per day
- Have a forklift or conveyor feeding waste into the baler
- Want bales heavy enough to ship by trailer load
- Need throughput that doesn't bottleneck production
- Have outdoor or large indoor space (40'+ length)
The volume threshold
If a vertical baler is the daily driver, a horizontal baler is the freight train. Horizontal balers feed continuously through a conveyor or hopper, compress with massive hydraulic force, and produce mill-ready bales weighing up to 2,000 lbs each.
Once you're generating more than four tons per day of recyclable material, vertical balers become a labor and throughput bottleneck. Horizontal makes economic and operational sense.
Two configurations
- Closed-end (manual tie)Lower cost, slightly slower cycle. Operator wires off bales by hand. Great for medium-volume operations.
- Auto-tieSelf-tying with wire. Higher throughput, less labor. Standard for high-volume recyclers, large distribution centers, and 24/7 operations.
Ideal applications
Distribution centers, large manufacturers, paper recyclers, OCC processors, mixed-recyclable MRFs, regional grocery distribution, retail return centers, and any operation where volume has outgrown vertical baling.
The freight load conversation
Horizontal balers pay back faster than vertical because their bales are dense enough to ship by full trailer load. A trailer of 30 horizontal bales (1,500 lbs each) hauls 22.5 tons of OCC at a single freight rate — compared to multiple smaller pickups for the same tonnage from vertical bales. The freight savings alone can recover the equipment investment in 2–3 years for high-volume operations.
What we install & service
We work with Marathon, Wastequip, Harmony, PTR, Sebright, and other major horizontal manufacturers. New and refurbished. We handle the full install — including the conveyor feed, electrical, and operator training — and service across Tarrant, Johnson, and Dallas counties.
